Episode 34 – The 1.0.7th Rule of Brawling Is …

Show notes originally posted by Nevik

In this episode, the full crew reunites after a week delay to sort out scheduling difficulties and to give us some time to enjoy something called Patch 1.0.7. After much rejoicing the crew gets down to business by discussing what we’ve been up to in-game: Lanntonio continued to puke all over the place, Breja was conflicted with his love of Blizzard, Jen brawled her way into the foul lair and Nevik dusted off his hardcore wizard!

In this episode:

* We read, and respond to, another mountain of email we received from our wonderful listeners. This batch comes to us from BayouMojo, Chpoit and Saintly Demon! Thank you for the many emails! Keep them coming!

* We received tweets from @nevikjames, @shawno, @Rilandune, @SLekva and @Medros! Thank you for your tweets. Don’t forget that you, too, can send in your thoughts via social media outlets such as FacebookGoogle+, and Twitter.

* Patch 1.0.7 was deployed to the live servers last week heralding in new crafting materials and plans, buffs to a few of the wizard and monk skills, and improvements the experience bonus granted by monster power in Inferno. For full details of everything that was changed, check out the patch notes for 1.0.7.

* If you’ve been holding out hope that we would be able to add sockets in the near future community manager Grimiku shared with us in a forum post that while it hasn’t been ruled out, it will not be coming anytime soon.

* With the new patch came a new way that rubies affected weapon damage. Originally this new calculation would apply to perfect square rubies and above, but in a forum post by community manager Vaeflare we learned that this change would apply to all levels of rubies.

* Have you been wondering what Project Blackstone is? Well wonder no longer! Turns out that Project Blackstone is a promotional website for Starcraft II: Heart of the Swarm which releases on March 12th, 2013.

* Blizzard put out a poll for us to nominate our favorite villian in Diablo 3. Un-surprisingly Zoltun Kulle took the top slot and thankfully Rho’s favorite butterfly witch Maghda did not come in last. To see where everyone else slotted in at, check out the final results of Who’s Your Favorite Villain?

* Inigo Montoya proposed a self-imposed rule set to make brawling a tad more interesting … and fair. Check out the thread on reddit for the rules.

* TryHardEnimity put together a great video guide for the new crafting plans introduced in patch 1.0.7 where he weighs the overall value and risks of the new bind on account craftables.

Round Table – Patch 1.0.7

Show notes originally posted by Nevik

Sometimes it is amazingly funny how Murphy’s law works. You’ll be recording a show and mention numerous times how you’re waiting on a certain piece of information only to have said information dropped on your lap after wrapping. Yes folks, we are of course referring to the deluge of Patch 1.0.7 information that emerged minutes after concluding our recording session of episode 32.

Not wanting to wait until our next episode to discuss all the gooey nuggets of patch 1.0.7 we decided that the best course of action would be to invite you, our dear listeners, to join us for our very first community round table … and it was a fantastic success!

Joining us for this round table was Chris (@CkRTech) from Armchair Arcade, Jesse (@theRealJFrench) aka Saintly Demon, Rho (@RhoWoW) from All Things Azeroth and Realm Maintenance, and fellow altoholic Smokimus (@Smokimus).

Listen on as we discuss the larger nuances of Patch 1.0.7, Jay Wilson’s departure from the Diablo 3 development team, what we feel is missing from the patch, and how always amazing Maghda was as a butterfly witch.

If you couldn’t make it to our first community round table fret not, there will be more round tables in the future. In fact we’d wager a bet that you can expect a round table for each substantial patch going forward. So go download Mumble to join in on the fun with us. Uber runs are soo much more fun when Death Watch Mantles inexplicably drop throughout the night.

Episode 30 – Pronouncing the Inconceivable

Show notes originally posted by Nevik

In this episode, our 4th Musketeer sadly could not join us on account of a medical emergency (don’t worry, everything is fine). Nevertheless the rest of the crew gathers to discuss what we’ve been up to in-game: Breja levels up during the course of the show, Jen smashes through a portion of Act 1 Nightmare, and Nevik cleared Inferno with his melee demon hunter.

In this episode:

* We read, and respond to, another mountain of email we received from our wonderful listeners. This batch comes to us from Zesty, Lord Bacon and Master Do. Thank you for the many emails! Keep them coming!

* Considering the volatile subject of WHERE’S THE PVP? we give our takes on the situation in an attempt to put the whole thing in perspective. Some good ideas come out of the discussion as to how we’d like to see PVP implemented.

* In lieu of our font of knowledge, Lanntonio, being absent, Nevik attempts to give a (brief) market report on set pieces.

* Sadly the podcast, Dungeon Crawler, will be coming to an end. That means the gaping hole that is Diablo podcasts will be even larger. Their final episode will be released Sunday, December 23rd. #sadface

Housekeeping Note: We did not get around to going in-depth with a specific class and its potential, or most popular builds on account of going long with our discussions resulting from the fantastic emails we received. Rest assured we will cover each class in detail, either on the podcast, or through blog posts on this very blog. Cheers!

Episode 29 – Mythical Black Snow

Show notes originally posted by Nevik

In this episode, we’re down our 4th Musketeer due to illness (no, really … he wasn’t kicked off the show for becoming a traitor … REALLY) and the remainder of the crew is recovering from the zombie turkocalypse. In game, Breja spent some time smashing all the things, Jen played around with monster power, and Nevik is ONE KEY away from having 3 Infernal Machines.

In this episode:

* We read, and respond to, another mountain of email we received from our wonderful listeners. This batch comes to us from Smokimus, Commander Bird, Chad and LunarFisher. Thank you for the many emails! Keep them coming!

* We received tweets from @tigjamie, @Rilandune, @wayngotango and @zesty1986! Thank you for your tweets. Don’t forget that you, too, can send in your thoughts via social media outlets such as FacebookGoogle+, and Twitter.

* We finally got down and dirty with Monster Power. What is monster power? How do you enable it? How does it affects your gameplay? Is it required or is it truly optional? Are there instances where it is “required”? Are there any improvements that can be made? All these questions are discussed and answered to the best of our abilities. For more detailed information (namely all the specific numbers) visit Blizzard’s Monster Power blog.

* Our next Diablo 3 gaming night is coming up (spurred on by @Wayngotango) and will either be held on December 7th or 14th. Stay tuned to our @ShatteredStone twitter feed to get the final details.

* Our in-depth discussion of Monster Power was inspired by a debate brewing on the DiabloFans forums about whether or not the XP bonus for monster power was adequate in Inferno or not. There were some fantastic points made in the thread: “MP xp scaling broken” so check it out.

* Patch 1.0.6 dropped on November 27th. Check out the patch notes (or lack thereof) to see what changed!

* A few episodes back we mentioned that the short story collection — Heroes Rise, Darkness Falls –would be receiving the digital eBook treatment. Well, now it’s available! Check out the blog post announcing the release of the collection and where to find it! Included are excerpts from two previously unpublished short stories.

* Nevik mentioned the Alkaizer XP Grind Route. For a detailed list of what route Alkaizer took on his gloried path to world-first Paragon Level 100, visit this post on the Diablo III (Unofficial Fan) Blog.

* Blizzard recently registered the domain ProjectBlackstone.com (there’s nothing there yet), could it be related to the forth-coming expansion that we have no details about? Only time will tell, but for now you can head on over to Diablo IncGamers and partake in the speculation for yourself.

* Nevik recently got around to updating his oft-neglected blog with a post about “Where’s the PVP?” In said post Nevik thought that we would see PVP specific gear introduced only to be debunked hours later by Jay Wilson on twitter.

* Finally if you have a fellow loot-deviant that you need to shop for during the holidays Jen compiled a few links of places to look for Diablo-sch’wag. Check out: Blizzard’s Store, Jinx’s Diablo Collection, or Amazon!

Episode 28 – Gobble, Gobble … Zombie Turkeys!

Show notes originally posted by Nevik

In this episode, we share what we’re all thankful for having wonderful listeners as well as what we’re thankful for in the world of Sanctuary. In game, Breja was able to squeeze in a tiny amount of time to slay demons, Jen killed the Skeleton King in Nightmare, Lanntonio has decided to shake things up, and Nevik is fully addicted to the game again.

In this episode:

* We read, and respond to, another mountain of email we received from our wonderful listeners. This batch comes to us from Darksoul, St. Motorspark, Commander Bird, and Floydman. Thank you for the many emails! Keep them coming!

* We received tweets from @tigjamie and @wayngotango! Thank you for your tweets. Don’t forget that you, too, can send in your thoughts via social media outlets such as FacebookGoogle+, and Twitter.

* We can haz an expansion! Well, we knew there would definitely be one, but during Blizzard’s Q3 2012 investor call Mike Morhaime officially confirmed that an expansion is planned … and that’s all. No further details were announced sadly.

* In honor of (ZOMBIE) Turkey day and Bashiok’s infamous Aren’t You Thankful forum post, we share what we’re all thankful for. Unsurprisingly we’re all thankful for having such a wonderful community around our loot-deviant show. Thank you for listening and contributing to our show. Without you this show wouldn’t be nearly as much fun to do.

* Blizzard is being taken to court in a class-action lawsuit regarding account security and the additional “hidden” cost of an authenticator. We discuss our thoughts regarding the merits of the lawsuit and potential ramifications we could expect to see.

* Nevik mentioned a video of DTX, a throwing barb, speed-running the Ubers bosses solo on Monster Power 10. It’s quite amazing how disgustingly OP you can get with nearly perfect equipment …
sigh, some day … right?

* GuitarGamer (aka Fabio Lima) put a video of him playing an amazing cover of Tristram’s theme music on an acoustic guitar. Warning: watching this video may cause your nostalgia to kick in and instantly load up Diablo II.

* Be on the lookout for Torchlight II to go on sale during the post-turkey day madness. It’s an amazing game that is well worth your gaming time, and no it’s not sacrilegious to say that ^^;
